EQUATORIAL GUINEA – 13 civil servant arrested and detained for tax evasion

It is not good to confuse its own goods with tax revenues in Equatorial Guinea. 13 government officials have just learned it at their expense. On 16 July 2020, they were taken into custody for having participated in an illicit stamp tax trade, and they risk prison sentences ranging from six to ten years. By the publication of the Law 2015 Financial n°4/2014, EG government has significantly amended Corporate income Tax, mainly regarding minimum tax and the cancellation of some exemptions in tax and customs duties.
